Andreas Karapatakis studied Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holds an LL.M. (Distinction) in Criminal Justice from Queen Mary, University of London and is currently a Ph.D student at the same University. Before his Ph.D he was a legal trainee in a Law Firm in Athens specialised in Criminal law, and as well as in the Legislative Acts Unit in the European Parliament, Brussels. His Ph.D research is on the nexus of EU Criminal Law, and specifically the crime of money laundering through digital currencies and the challenge of regulation under EU Law.
