The Palimpsest of Conformity Assessment in the Proposed Artificial Intelligence Act: A Critical Exploration of Related Terminology

Nikos Ioannidis is a PhD researcher at the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His doctoral research lies on the intersection of data protection and artificial intelligence and particularly on the concept of algorithmic impact assessment. He is a qualified lawyer in Greece, having graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has completed postgraduate studies, among others, in KU Leuven (ICT and IP law) and in ULB (European law). He has gained his core professional experience having worked as a legal officer in the Greek Army, as an ICT lawyer in the Greek bar, as a researcher in the Belgian academia and as a trainee in the policy and consultation unit of the EDPS.
